Buddha Purana Rajamaha Viharaya

About 9 km of the Ampara 9 km faraway road in Siyambalanduwa is situated in the vicinity of a beautiful hill next to the Buddha Marihitha Viharaya. This temple has a history up to the third century BC.

It is also known that this temple was built by the Udaya local leader during the period from 883 to 896. There is clear evidence of the development of Sri Wickrama Rajasingha's time at Parakramabahu's era. At present, a stupa built in the temple has been built and the chaity is also about 90 years old. There are some historical facts that there was a large number of dagothas in this place. When we come towards the see we can see a cave diving cave from the second century BCE. Brahmi scripts used before the arrival of the Mihindran Mediyan are seen.
The cave contains the following:

"Lime Tree, Lane"
(A member of the village council, the daughter of Upāsaka Devayaya Lena).
There are many caves here. The chief monk stated that there are many rock caves within the forest. There are about five caves in the vicinity of the temple. The paintings in the temple are in the Kandyan era. There are only those miraculously designed paintings of this temple.

The temple's temples have been locked. You can watch with the permission of the Thera's permission if you want to watch it safeguarded from treasure hunters and protecting art and statues from treasure hunters. The treasure hunters destroyed the idols for treasure hunting. This is a terrible tragedy. But now it has been reformed. But the damage done by them is not trivial. Unlike the temple, the 1800s, created in and built in the Kandyan era, are still in the process of being completely unreformed. The ground still clings to the ground. Like the chief statue, another Buddha has been destroyed by a lion statue treasure hunters. You can get a look at the diaphragm that is old.

Another important thing is that the sandpile in Welipella which was found in this temple has been used for writing in the past. It was designed in the Kandyan era. It is rare that Sri Lanka's sandpiper is rarely found in the Uva Province. It is 14 feet long and 2 feet high. About two and a half feet in width. Made of clay, this has been put up in white sand. There is clear evidence that this place had been used as a classroom in the past.

Rock caves

There is evidence that the temple was located as a center of teaching Buddhism. Some of these caves have been used for various studies. There is evidence that the cave Silver Lane was a center of study.

There is clear evidence that the caves of Madu cave have been taught the cottage industry. At the 18th insurgency in the Kandyan era, ten Buddhist monks who had lived in this temple took the lead in the Uva Wellassa Rebellion. In the past, this temple had become an Ayurvedic center.

One of the monks who lived here worked hard to distinguish the sage. This was told to me by the legends and the present dynasty. The paintings and statues belonging to the Kandy era are being destroyed. With the dedication of the people in the villages without any state assistance, they have preserved the temple with the past, without any state patronage, as in their old pipes. So, you will come to see this temple built in the third century BC and visit the paintings and statues of the Kandyan era. This opportunity will be a great opportunity for your life to be mentally satisfied.
